Calm Bodies

PDF: Calm Bodies

You will need: An open space where participants are able to lay on their backs.

How to play: Have participants lay on their back with their hands on their sides or on their belly. Guide participants through taking a few deep breaths. When participants are calm and have taken a few deep breaths tap the bottom of their feet, signaling that they can stand up and move on to what is next. This is an excellent transition activity.

Modifications:

  1. Allow participants to sit, or stand
  2. Use this activity to complete a body scan: ask participants to wiggle their toes and fingers, do their legs feel heavy of light, is their breathing slow or fast, etc.? have participants answer in their head.
  3. Use this activity to complete an environment scan: ask participants what do they smell, hear, see, feel? Have participants answer in their head.
