Calm Bodies
You will need: An open space where participants are able to lay on their backs.
How to play: Have participants lay on their back with their hands on their sides or on their belly. Guide participants through taking a few deep breaths. When participants are calm and have taken a few deep breaths tap the bottom of their feet, signaling that they can stand up and move on to what is next. This is an excellent transition activity.
Modifications:
- Allow participants to sit, or stand
- Use this activity to complete a body scan: ask participants to wiggle their toes and fingers, do their legs feel heavy of light, is their breathing slow or fast, etc.? have participants answer in their head.
- Use this activity to complete an environment scan: ask participants what do they smell, hear, see, feel? Have participants answer in their head.
